It’s a 60-minute treatment built around your scalp’s actual health — steamed, massaged, analyzed, layered with professional treatment products, and finished with a shoulder and arm massage while you’re draped in a hot towel. What to Expect

Every Head Spa at Root is 60 minutes of uninterrupted, full sensory care. Here’s what’s included in every visit:

Aromatherapy of Your Choice

Before you even lie down, you choose your scent — Citrus, Rose, or Vanilla. That aromatherapy threads through the entire experience, from the moment your service begins to the final rinse.

Scalp Camera Analysis — Before + After

We photograph your scalp before we begin and again at the end. You get to see exactly what’s happening beneath the surface — buildup, dryness, oiliness, follicle health — and we use those images to build personalized aftercare guidance specific to what your scalp actually needs.

Multi-Layer Scalp Treatment

Your service moves through a full sequence of professional products: a pre-wash scalp oil to loosen buildup and nourish follicles, a purifying gel shampoo, a cleansing spa gel, a hydrating scalp treatment, and a finishing soothing moisturizer — applied slowly, in sections, with intention at every step.

Steam Therapy

A professional steam dome is placed over you mid-service while the treatment products work. The steam opens follicles, maximizes product absorption, and adds a layer of deep relaxation that most guests have never experienced in a salon setting.

Hot Towels + Jade Eye Mask

Multiple hot towels are used throughout your service. A jade eye mask goes on during your steam time so you can fully disconnect.

Sensory Scalp Massage — Hands + Tools

Every Head Spa uses a minimum of four sensory tools alongside hand techniques — different textures and sensations customized to your preference. The massage moves between gentle and pressure-based, covering every part of the scalp and timed carefully across the full 60 minutes.

Arm, Hand + Shoulder Massage

While your treatment products work under steam, your stylist moves to a 10-minute arm, hand, and shoulder massage. Most guests don’t expect this. Most guests call it their favorite part.

Home Care

Your stylist will walk you through the KEVIN.MURPHY, Alcove, or Calecim aftercare products recommended for your scalp — these lines are available to take home from Root. You’ll leave with a clear, simple routine to maintain what you just experienced. If you’re here just to relax, no home care needed!

Add On a Blowout

Want to walk out completely finished? Add a professional blowout and styling to your Head Spa. Ask when you book or mention it at your consultation — your stylist will make sure the timing works.

Note: Blowout add-ons are available when booked with a stylist. If you book with an esthetician and would like a blowout, our front desk can help you arrange that.

Pricing

$109 — flat rate, every provider.

Blowouts are not included. Service does end with wet, toweled dry hair and hair products for air drying. Blowouts are priced separately if added on.

What is a Head Spa?

A Head Spa is a professional scalp and hair treatment — deeper than a salon shampoo, more therapeutic than a standard massage. At Root, our 60-minute Head Spa combines steam, multi-layer treatment products, sensory scalp massage, hot towels, aromatherapy, and a scalp camera analysis into one complete service.

How is this different from just getting my hair washed at the salon?

It's a completely different experience. A salon shampoo takes 5 minutes. This takes 60 — with professional scalp analysis, steam therapy, a minimum of four sensory massage tools, a shoulder and arm massage, and a full sequence of treatment products applied at every stage. You'll see the difference in your scalp camera images.

What does the scalp camera show?

The camera captures close-up images of your scalp before and after the service — showing buildup, dryness, oil levels, and follicle health in a way that's not visible to the naked eye. We use those images to guide your personalized aftercare routine.

Do I need to do anything to prepare?

Nothing specific. If your hair is up, we'll ask you to take it down before lying back. Come as you are.

Can I add a blowout?

Yes — ask when you schedule. Blowouts are available online only when your Head Spa is booked with one of our stylists. Our hospitality team will gladly help you schedule via text or phone call.

Is this good for hair loss or scalp concerns?

The Head Spa supports overall scalp health — circulation, follicle nourishment, buildup removal — all of which create the best possible environment for healthy hair. Who performs the service?

Both licensed stylists and estheticians at Root are trained in our full Head Spa protocol. You can choose your provider when you book.

How often should I get a Head Spa?

Your stylist will make a recommendation based on your scalp camera results and your personal goals. Many guests come monthly; others treat it as a seasonal reset.
